Vineland, NJ - The Jersey Blues softball team won the Region XIX District E championship after sweeping Cumberland County College, 8-2 and 2-0. Sophomore outfielder Tori Lucarelli and sophomore shortstop Alyssa Raimondo each went 3-4 at bat and knocked in two runs apiece in game one.
Sophomore Jessica Pszeniczny pitched for her 22nd win of the season. In game two action, Lucarelli ripped one double and one single while freshman third baseman Shakyra Moore posted an RBI single in the sixth inning to put the Blues on the scoreboard. Moore also scored the second run of the game after a wild pitch. Freshman righty Katy McGovern threw heat from the mound and tallied her 14th win.
With a total of five hits, three scored runs and 2 RBI's, sophomore outfielder Tori Lucarelli earned MVP of the championship.
Brookdale's record stands at 42-9 and the team will return to action in the NJCAA national tournament in Rochester, Minnesota from May 23rd-May 25th.
