2014 Men's Soccer Preview
Lincroft, NJ- A young and talented Brookdale men’s soccer team will look to build upon last year’s successes for the 2014 season. Under first-year head coach, George Binaco, the Jersey Blues bring in 11 freshman to the team that only returns five from the 2013 season.
Lincroft, NJ- A young and talented Brookdale men's soccer team will look to build upon last year's successes for the 2014 season. Under first-year head coach, George Binaco, the Jersey Blues bring in 11 freshman to the team that only returns five from the 2013 season.
The Blues will be captained by sophomore Eric Doucette and Drew University transfer Anthony Diaz. Doucette, a midfielder who saw action in 16 contests, scored two goals and assisted four more on the year.
Diaz will lead a strong defense, one that also returns Ryan Ruzicki and Rui Frazao in the backfield and Ronald Roszkowski in goal. Last year the defense held opponents to a mere 1.6 shots per game and averaged 1.07 goals against.
"We have a lot of youth on the team, but our potential is there," said Coach Binaco. "We will be in the mix looking to compete for a spot in the National tournament."
The Blues open up their season on Thursday, August 28th at Drew University JV.
