Brookdale Wins Doubleheader To Sweep Ocean Viking Series
Lincroft, NJ - The Brookdale Community College Jersey Blues took double header wins, 15-0, 17-4, from the Ocean County College Vikings to sweep the series at home.

Lincroft, NJ - The Brookdale Community College Jersey Blues took double header wins, 15-0, 17-4, from the Ocean County College Vikings to sweep the series at home.
Sophomore, Christian Simonsen (5-1), went the distance to pitch all 7.0 innings with five strikeouts in the game-one shut out on the mound. The bats and runs were colossal in the 2nd and 4th innings for the Blues as sophomore left fielder, Ryan Schmidt, plastered a couple of hits including a homer for four RBI's, and sophomore catcher, Shane Andrus, cracked a home run for two RBI's. Multi-hit performances for two RBI's a piece were strewn by freshman first baseman, Gary John Perone, who hit two doubles, freshman center fielder, Declan Sheehan, added a double, and sophomore, Justin Diaz, had a double as well.
The Jersey Blues put on a batting clinic in game-two with Shane Andrus leading the pack as he crushed a home run, a triple and a double for five RBI's in his 3-for-4 at bats. Sophomore second baseman, Anthony Martino, batted 2-for-3 as he clocked a homer and a double for four RBI's. Sophomore first baseman, Richard Kernan, smacked a triple and a double for two runs, and Sheehan added to more doubles and two RBI's to his day. Sophomore RHP, Tyler Mendez was the winner on the mound, improving his record to 4-2.
Next up for the Jersey Blues (32-8) is a home game against the Raritan Valley Community College Lions on Tuesday, April 29th at 4:00pm.
