Blues Blast Phantoms To Complete Dominant Series Sweep

Lincroft, NJ - Brookdale baseball closed out their three-game series in emphatic fashion, sweeping the Delaware County Community College Phantoms in a doubleheader, 13-3 and 15-0.

In game one, the Jersey Blues offense was firing on all cylinders. Sophomore second baseman Ryan Tan delivered a perfect 3-for-3 performance with three RBI, while freshman center fielder Ray Mulhern went 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Freshman first baseman Owen Parillo added two RBI of his own, and both sophomore right fielder Casey Gardiner and a freshman left fielder contributed RBI doubles in the win.

On the mound, sophomore Gary Perone III was dominant, throwing 6.0 innings with 10 strikeouts while allowing just two hits and two walks to improve to 4-0 on the season.

The offensive momentum carried into game two as Brookdale overwhelmed the Phantoms once again, 15-0. Gardiner led the charge, going 2-for-3 with a triple and four RBI. Parillo stayed hot at the plate, batting 3-for-3 with a double for three RBI, while Tan added two more RBI with a triple. Freshman Derek Miro also recorded an RBI triple, and freshman DH LJ Santiago contributed with a 2-for-3 performance including a double and an RBI.

Sophomore Luke Roccesano earned the win in game two, pitching 6.0 strong innings with five strikeouts while allowing just two hits and one walk.

Now 18-7 overall, the Jersey Blues will remain home for their next contest against the Salem Community College Mighty Oaks on Tuesday, April 7th at 3:30pm.
