Panthers Edge Jersey Blues in Tight Battle, 85-80
Paterson, NJ - The Brookdale Community College men’s basketball team fell just short on the road Wednesday night, dropping an 85-80 decision to Passaic County Community College. The loss marks the third straight to open the season for the Jersey Blues, who continue to search for their first win of the 2025–26 campaign.

Despite the setback, Brookdale showed balanced scoring with five players reaching double figures. Freshman guard Ashawn Johnson led the effort with 16 points, while freshman forward Aidan Hamlin-Woolfolk nearly recorded a double-double, finishing with 13 points and nine rebounds. Fellow freshman forward Matthew Slaby also tallied 13 points and added four steals on the defensive end.
Rounding out the offensive attack, freshman forward Drean Atkins and freshman guard Kevin Hemans each contributed 10 points, helping keep the game close throughout.
Brookdale will look to bounce back at home on Saturday, November 8, when they host the Harrisburg Area Community College Hawks. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at The Robert J. Collins Arena.
