Men's Jersey Blues Soccer Surge In 2nd Half To Defeat Atlantic Cape

Lincroft, NJ - Following a scoreless first half after multiple scoring opportunities, the Brookdale men's soccer team went on a surge in the second half to defeat the Atlantic Cape Community College Buccaneers, 2-0, in conference play.

In the 66th minute, sophomore midfielder, Wyatt Vicente capitalized on a throw-in from freshman midfielder, Jorge Cruz, on the right side. After settling the ball, he picked his head up and spotted the keeper off his line, lofting a precise strike to the far post and over the keeper's reach for the opener.

Just a minute later, Brookdale was awarded a penalty. Vicente stepped up with composure and slotted it into the lower corner to double the lead. With the help of freshman goalie, Klaud Martyna, and his four saves, Brookdale controlled possession for the remainder of the match to secure the clean sheet.

The Jersey Blues (3-2) now shift focus to their next test on the road against the Harrisburg Area Community College Hawks on Saturday, September 20th, at 12:00pm.
