Jersey Blues Men Impale The Northampton Spartans

Bethlehem, PA - The Jersey Blues men's soccer team impaled the Northampton Community College Spartans on the road with a final score of 8-1.

Northampton struck first, scoring in the opening five minutes to take a 1-0 lead. Brookdale responded in dominant fashion, netting eight unanswered goals. In the 31st minute, sophomore midfielder, Alessandro Principato leveled the match with a strike to the lower corner. Just two minutes later, he set up sophomore midfielder, Wyatt Vicente, for a finish across the goal, giving Brookdale the lead.

Early in the second half, freshman midfielder, Jorge Cruz, broke free behind the defense in the 47th minute and calmly slotted home. Eight minutes later, he assisted Vicente's second of the day, blasted into the top corner. On a 65th-minute corner, freshman midfielder, Griffin Lecorchick, connected with freshman defender, Declan Smith, who headed in his first collegiate goal at the near post. Five minutes later, Cruz flicked a header down to Smith, who found freshman defender, Billy Murawski,  for another first collegiate goal.

In the 77th minute, Principato struck again, slotting far post after a through ball from, freshman midfielder, Emmanuel Candia. The scoring was capped in the 88th minute when Vicente completed his hat trick, finishing from distance off a pass from sophomore midfielder, Kevin Silva. Brookdale's attack was spread across the team with multiple first-time contributors on the scoresheet.

The Jersey Blues (4-4) will host on their home field next against the Bergen Community College Bulldogs on Saturday, September 27th, at 12:00pm.
