Lincroft, NJ - The Brookdale men's soccer team defeated the Montgomery County Community College Mustangs 4-2 while marking up back-to-back wins for a 6-5 overall record.
Montgomery opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, capitalizing on a turnover and finishing into the near post corner. Just two minutes later freshman defender, Billy Murawski, found freshman midfielder, Jorge Cruz, at the top of the box, who created space with a left-footed scissor before slotting the ball into the lower near post corner to level the match.
In the 41st minute, sophomore midfielder, Alessandro Principato, turned his defender inside the box and drew a penalty. He calmly stepped up and buried it down the middle to give the Jersey Blues a 2–1 lead heading into halftime.
Early in the second half, freshman defender, Ivan Quiroz, played a perfectly timed pass to Billy Murawski in the 53rd minute, who finished first-time at the near post to extend the lead.
In the 62nd minute, an unusual sequence saw the Montgomery goalkeeper's punt deflect off, freshman midfielder, Jorgeluis Pintado, landing perfectly for Jorge Cruz to slot home into an empty net for his second goal of the match.
Montgomery pulled one back in the 87th minute, but the Jersey Blues held strong to secure the 4–2 victory.
Brookdale hits the road next as they face the Georgian Court University Lions on Monday, October 6th at 4:30 PM.
