Brookdale Controls And Shuts Out RCSJ-Gloucester 2-0

Lincroft, NJ - Brookdale men's soccer shutout the RCSJ-Gloucester Roadrunners, 2-0, in a well-balanced conference game from start to finish.

Brookdale controlled most of Gloucester's early attacks in the first half, staying organized defensively and patient in possession. In the 40th minute, freshman defender Declan Smith rose above the defense to head a ball forward, assisting freshman forward Peter DeSantis, who made a well-timed run and finished clinically to give Brookdale a 1-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Brookdale applied pressure early on Gloucester's back line. In the 54th minute, sophomore midfielder Alessandro Principato fended off a defender and slipped a perfectly weighted through ball to freshman midfielder Jorgeluis Pintado, who showed composure on the breakaway to slot it into the lower corner, doubling the lead to 2-0.

Brookdale continued to create opportunities, but couldn't extend the scoreline. Defensively, the back line of sophomore Travis Burke, Zion Tomlinson, Declan Smith, and freshman Ivan Quiroz—alongside goalkeeper freshman Klaud Martyna—secured a well-earned shutout.

Brookdale (7-8) returns to action Monday, October 20th at 3:30 PM vs the Sussex County Community College Skylanders, looking to earn a crucial result in their postseason push.
