Brookdale Men's Cross Country Takes First Place At Jersey Blues Invitational
Lincroft, NJ - The Brookdale Community College men's cross country team took first place overall combined with having a first place individual winner in their own 8k Jersey Blues Invitational.
Lincroft, NJ - The Brookdale Community College men's cross country team took first place overall combined with having a first place individual winner in their own 8k Jersey Blues Invitational.
In the three years that Brookdale has hosted the Invitational, this was the first year that the Brookdale men took first place. Furthermore, every Jersey Blues runner surpassed their best season time in the meet.
Out of the six teams who participated, freshman Walter Heffner finished first, his first in both high school and at Brookdale, with a final time of 17:34. Coming in at fourth place was sophomore, Andrew Lorig, with a time of 18:16. He was followed by sophomore, Gavin Tay, in 6th place at 19:07. Twenty seconds later, it was eighth place holder, Harmon Hass, who finished with a time of 19:27. In ninth place, sophomore, Diego Alva, completed the race in 19:37 and at 19:38 in tenth place, freshman, Angel Hernandez crossed the line. Freshman Jason Ritter finished at 20:46 in sixteenth, sophomore Fredson Rodriguez-Segovia finished seventeenth at 21:05, and freshman Oscar Hernandez concluded the race in 39:18 for twenty-sixth place.
The Jersey Blues will be off for a week and then return to action for the NJIT Highlander Invitational on Saturday, October 11th, with a 1:00pm start.
