Brookdale Men's Cross Country Finishes Top Junior College In Highlander Invitational
Newark, NJ - The Brookdale men's cross country team recently competed in the NJIT Highlander Invitational at Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ. In the men's 8K Invitational, the team placed 10th out of 17 teams.
Newark, NJ - The Brookdale Men's cross country team recently competed in the NJIT Highlander Invitational at Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ. In the men's 8K Invitational, the team placed 10th out of 17 teams.
The Jersey Blues competed in the fastest of the two races at the Highlander against NCAA DI, DII, and DIII teams, and were the top junior college team across the line. The team was led by freshman, Walter Heffner (Middletown North High School), who ran a personal record by over a minute in 28:09. He was followed by sophomore team captain, Andrew Lorig (Matawan Regional High School), who ran a season best time of 28:50; a 20 second improvement.
Next across the line was sophomore team captain, Gavin Tay (Matawan Regional High School), who ran a season best of 29:35, more than two minutes faster than any time this year. Freshman, Charles Doolittle (Middletown South High School) ran a personal record by almost two minutes at 30:24. Doolittle was followed by sophomore team captain, Harmon Hass (Saint John Vianney High School), who ran a 30:27, a 36 second personal record. Sophomore team captain, Diego Alva (Dumont High School), ran a 31:43; a personal record for him by over one minute.
Rounding out the team was sophomore team captain, Fredson Rodriguez-Segovia (Long Branch High School), who ran a 32:35 personal record of over one minute. Freshman, Jason Ritter (Matawan Regional High School) also ran a personal record of 33:08 which was over one minute faster than his best.
Brookdale men's cross country team will run their next race on Sunday, October 26th, at the Region XIX Championship at Lancaster Central Park in Lancaster, PA, hosted by Thaddeus Stevens Community College.
