Lincroft, NJ – The Brookdale Community College softball team delivered a commanding performance on their home field, sweeping neighboring Ocean County College in decisive fashion with mercy-rule victories of 8-0 and 16-0.
In game one, the Jersey Blues combined explosive offense with dominant pitching to set the tone early. Sophomore pitcher Jules Hart (4-2) led the charge with a stellar all-around effort, going 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and two RBI while also tossing a no-hitter in the circle.
Brookdale struck immediately as freshman center fielder Sophia Lasater launched a home run on the very first pitch she saw, igniting the offense. Sophomore third baseman Jadeyn Pavlik added two RBI, while sophomore second baseman Mya Bonilla, sophomore right fielder Emma Zazzarino, and freshman first baseman Isabella Graci each contributed doubles and an RBI apiece to round out the attack.
The momentum carried seamlessly into game two as the Jersey Blues continued their offensive surge in a 16-0 victory. Freshman catcher Alexxa Cebulski delivered a big performance at the plate, driving in three RBI to lead the scoring effort. Hart remained locked in offensively, going a perfect 4-for-4 with a double and a triple for two RBI.
Lasater stayed hot, batting 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI, while Pavlik contributed two RBI of her own to further extend Brookdale's advantage. In the circle, Pavlik took control, tossing 5.0 strong innings while allowing just two hits and one walk, and striking out four. Her performance secured the win and improved her record to 5-1 on the season.
With the sweep, Brookdale improves to 9-3 on the season and continues to build momentum as they return to their home field to host the Finger Lakes Community College Lakers on Wednesday, March 25th, beginning at 2:00pm.
