Lincroft, NJ - Brookdale Community College softball delivered a strong showing at home, splitting with NJCAA DIII no. 2 ranked RCSJ-Gloucester Roadrunners, earning an 8-2 victory before falling 13-3 in game two.
In the game one win, the Jersey Blues came alive offensively with key contributions throughout the lineup. Sophomore right fielder Emma Zazzarino came through with a clutch RBI single, while sophomore second baseman Mya Bonilla, freshman first baseman Isabella Graci, and freshman left fielder Sophia Costa each added doubles to keep the momentum going. Sophomore third baseman Jadeyn Pavlik and freshman catcher Alexa Cebulski both turned in strong performances, each batting 2-for-3.
Sophomore pitcher Jules Hart was dominant in the circle, going the full 7.0 innings while striking out four to earn the win and improve to 9-4 on the season.
In game two, the Roadrunners responded with a 13-3 victory despite continued effort from the Jersey Blues. Graci stayed hot at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Zazzarino extended her hitting streak with a perfect 2-for-2 performance including a double, while freshman Sophia Lasater added a 2-for-3 showing to contribute in the loss.
Brookdale now stands at 17-9 overall and 9-1 in conference play. The Jersey Blues will return to action on Saturday, April 11th when they travel to face the Bergen Community College Bulldogs, with first pitch set for 12:00pm.
