Women's Cross Country Run Outstanding Races At NJIT Highlander Invitational

Newark, NJ - On Saturday, October 11th, the women's cross country team participated in the NJIT Highlander Invitational at Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ. The team had a successful day as both women ran outstanding races.

In the women's 5K open race, sophomore team captain, Georgia Jones (Matawan High School), ran a season best with a time of 21:12, a 49 second personal best for her this year. Jones grabbed the last medal while placing 15th overall. Freshman Sabrina Coelho (Monroe High School), ran a 25:52 which was a five minute personal record.

The women have off this weekend, but will be back in action on Sunday, October 26th for the Region XIX Championship at Lancaster Central Park in Lancaster, PA hosted by Thaddeus Stevens Community College.
