Lincroft, NJ - The Jersey Blues protected their home floor inside the Robert J. Collins Arena with authority, defeating the Bergen Community College Bulldogs, 61-48, in conference play. With a balanced attack and relentless work on the glass, Brookdale delivered one of its most complete performances of the season.
Freshman guard Leomary Diaz-Merino once again set the tone for the Blues, pouring in 21 points while grabbing nine rebounds. Her ability to attack off the dribble and finish through contact gave Brookdale early momentum, and her energy on both ends of the court kept the Bulldogs on their heels throughout the contest.
Freshman guard Laila Hagan added another spark to the offense, contributing 16 points and five assists. Dominating the paint was freshman center Myricol Burke, who controlled the boards with 16 rebounds. Freshman guard Jamirah Glanton also made her mark defensively, pulling down 10 rebounds and swiping four steals to shift the momentum in Brookdale's favor.
With the win, Brookdale moves to 10-11 on the season and continues to build confidence heading into the final stretch of conference play. The Jersey Blues will remain at home to host the Ocean County College Vikings on Thursday, February 12th, at 5:00pm, as they look to carry this momentum forward in front of their home crowd.
